# Manage Data Exclusion

> Create, update or delete a data exclusion to inform automated bidding of a conversion-tracking outage

Create, update or delete a data exclusion to inform automated bidding of a conversion-tracking outage. Dates use the advertising account's local time. Updates preserve omitted settings. This changes bidding inputs; it does not repair conversion tracking.

| | |
| - | - |
| **App** | Microsoft Ads |
| **Operation ID** | `microsoft_ads_manage_data_exclusion` |
| **Type** | Action |
| **Connection** | `microsoft_ads` (required) |
| **Credits per run** | 1 |
| **Agent / MCP tool** | Yes |
| **Requires approval** | Yes (write operation) |

## Inputs

| Field | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `account` | object or array of object or MicrosoftAdsAccountItem or string or integer | Yes | - | Microsoft Ads account that owns the automated-bidding data exclusions. |
| `action` | enum (`create`, `update`, `delete`) | Yes | - | Create, update or delete a data exclusion. Updates preserve omitted fields. |
| `data_exclusion_id` | string | No | - | Required for update/delete. Obtain Id from microsoft\_ads\_list\_data\_exclusions. |
| `name` | string | No | - | Data exclusion name. Supply when creating an exclusion. |
| `description` | string | No | - | Reason for excluding the data, such as a tracking outage. Send an empty string to clear it. |
| `start_date` | string | No | - | Start timestamp in the advertising ACCOUNT's local time, e.g. 2026-10-02T00:00:00. Supply on create. Passed to Microsoft unchanged; do not use the browser/server timezone or convert to UTC. |
| `end_date` | string | No | - | End timestamp in the advertising ACCOUNT's local time, e.g. 2026-10-05T23:59:59. Supply on create. Passed to Microsoft unchanged. |
| `campaign_ids` | string or array of string | No | - | Campaign IDs to associate with the exclusion, as a list or comma-separated text. Use explicit campaigns OR campaign\_types, not both. Omit to let Microsoft apply campaign-type scope. On update, omission preserves existing associations; \[] clears the explicit campaign associations. |
| `campaign_types` | array of enum (`Search`, `Shopping`, `DynamicSearchAds`, `Audience`, `Hotel`, `PerformanceMax`, `App`, `ObjectiveBased`) | No | - | CampaignTypeFilter values. List or comma-separated text, e.g. Search,Shopping. Use campaign types OR explicit campaign\_ids, not both (Microsoft error 8214). Microsoft validates eligibility. Omission preserves the existing value on update. |
| `devices` | array of enum (`None`, `Computers`, `Smartphones`, `Tablets`, `All`) | No | - | DeviceTypeFilter values: Computers, Smartphones, Tablets, All or None. List or comma-separated text. Use All for all devices; omission preserves the existing value on update. |
